New Dunkin’ Approved on Route 70

Cherry Hill Planning Board voted 5–2 in favor of the project. However, concerns were raised regarding traffic congestion along both sides of the highway.

Last week, the Cherry Hill Planning Board voted 5–2 in favor of the project. However, concerns were raised regarding traffic congestion along both sides of the highway.

During public comment, resident Martha Wright voiced opposition to the proposal. She stated that off-site traffic conditions posed safety risks for pedestrians and drivers.

Nevertheless, the application was approved by the board. While traffic concerns were acknowledged, limitations under state land-use law were cited.

Specifically, board members noted that traffic conditions beyond the development site could not be considered. In addition, Route 70 falls under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey Department of Transportation, not Cherry Hill Township.

As a result, the board determined the project met local planning requirements. Ultimately, the approval reflects the regulatory boundaries governing development decisions along state-controlled roadways.
