Two Cherry Hill commercial properties have been sold for redevelopment. As a result, new car wash facilities are planned for both locations.
One of the properties includes the former Cherry Hill Diner site at 2341 Route 38. The second property is located nearby at 2301-2311 Route 70 West.
Together, the sites sold for more than $5 million, according to county records. The Route 38 property traded for $2.6 million, while the Route 70 site sold for $2.5 million.
The Cherry Hill Diner closed in 2023 after operating for nearly six decades. Since then, redevelopment plans have continued moving forward.
Spark Car Wash has been identified as the proposed operator for both locations. The company currently operates multiple sites across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York.
In addition, approvals for both developments have already been secured through Cherry Hill Township. Permits for demolition and construction were also issued earlier this spring.
Before construction begins, pre-construction meetings must still be scheduled with the township. Consequently, ground-up development has not yet started.
Previously, Tidal Wave Auto Spa had proposed projects for the same sites. However, the properties are now moving forward under the Spark Car Wash brand.
The transaction reflects continued redevelopment activity along major Cherry Hill commercial corridors. At the same time, demand remains strong for service-oriented retail uses positioned along Route 38 and Route 70.
